Our Mission

September 5, 2010

Within a generation, Central Ohio will be a leader in creating buildings and communities that promote economic growth and sustain the health and vitality of all life.

The Central Ohio Chapter of the U.S Green Building Council has been established exclusively for Charitable and Educational purposes.

Our activities provide the local voice of the U.S Green Building Council mission: To transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life. In executing this mission the Central Ohio Chapter will leverage the guiding principles and programs established by the U.S. Green Building Council including Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED). The LEED green building certification system is an
internationally recognized, preeminent program for rating the design, construction and operation of green buildings. By using less energy, LEED-certified buildings save money for families, businesses and taxpayers; reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community.

The Central Ohio specifically seeks to transform the Central Ohio built environment to be more sustainable, healthy and prosperous. The Central Ohio Chapter will focus activities to serve the following counties: Belmont, Champaign, Coshocton, Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Monroe, Perry, Pickaway, Union, Guernsey, Hocking and Knox.
